Beware. Repackage Applications is Everywhere

Many applications has provided for mobile devices, but there are “repackaged applications”, a category that use social engineering tactics, display similar User Interface (UI), icon, package names and labels. It also used to lead users into a trap like downloading fake applications and create a profit.

More than 50% users download “repackaged applications” in Google Play that can be used in business, media, video and games. In addition, it also tagged as “malicious” for users. A high-risk code such as FAKEBANK, premium abusers and Trojanized game apps are added in the fake applications as advertisement and put “virus code” into classes.dex file, which can shows malware infection and data theft. It is very cautious to users who want to download applications and Google Play has implemented a rule with similar codes and appearances.
